Turkey Day In Pine

This year our plans for Christmas and Thanksgiving changed a bit. It was our turn to go to Texas for Christmas, but we ended up having to switch things around and that meant we couldn't go for either Holiday. Luckily, my Dad was able to come in town to visit. We decided it would be nice to spend a quiet day with Dad and really enjoy some quality Grandpa time for the kids.
Colby was so eager to get a turkey this year, that every time we went to the grocery store he begged for a turkey, and when we finally went to get it, he had to carry it, put it in the cart, carry it inside and carefully place it in the fridge. This is him, yep, hanging out by the oven to watch it cook. Isn't it amazing how these simple little things can bring so much joy to a child?
After about 20min waiting on the Turkey got kind of boring, so we took naps, went swinging, and did only things boys would want to do......

You know....following stink bugs, catching them on sticks and carrying them around
About 1:30 in the afternoon the feast was complete. I had cooked most of it the day before and brought it up, so there really wasn't much work to do the day of. It turned out great and we ate a little more at dinner time, and some more the next day, and the next, and the next.... and I really could do with out turkey until next year :)
After dinner we goofed around with Grandpa. I read a cute little quote once that said, "Grandpa's are just antique little boys." I believe it.
It was nice and cold at night, freezing in fact, so we built a fire. It was nice and cozy.
Our two little pyromaniacs couldn't get enough of it.

We had a great Thanksgiving and we had lots of fun for the next few days...more posts to come...
